For packers with drift diameters too small to allow the penetrator to pass through the packer, a crossover adapter may be used. These penetrators are supplied with a connector on one end and a cable on the other end. The penetrator is sealed to packers with a crossover adapter either below or above the packer, and only the cable passes through the secondary bore for splicing to the ESP cable on the other side. Packer penetrators for this application are supplied with fittings, which allow for cable slack management.
