BIW Introduces Workover and Re-Use Manuals for Thermoplastic Product Lines

Many customers currently re-work and re-use BIW connectors as a cost-savings measure, and BIW would like to support them in getting the most from their investment by ensuring this process is done safely and professionally.

BIW offers repair and workover kits for some of its products to assist in their re-use and is now expanding this practice to many of our products utilizing PEEK insulator technology.

The Workover and Re-use Manuals for our Thermoplastic Product Lines address this issue with the creation of detailed guidelines for reusing certain PEEK-based BIW penetrator systems.

Customers require clear, step-by-step instructions for inspecting and testing connector parts to determine if they are still suitable for use after some time in service and clear inspection and criteria to ensure safe re-use. They also require guidelines on determining the suitability for re-use of parts given their time in service, and other environmental factors. These manuals provide extensive step-by-step instructions and accompanying images to assist customers in evaluating their connector refurbishment and whether the system can be re-used safely.

These instruction manuals are detailed enough to allow minimally trained personnel to determine through inspection and testing, whether components of connectors are in suitable condition for re-use either as-is or with on-site reconditioning and the parts kits to support them.

NOTE: With any re-use there are certain requirements and compliance that BIW must insist on for endorsed re-use of its products. Click to download BIW-Connector-Systems-Proper-Use-Document
